MONTREAL, QC — Yawning. It’s one of those things we all do but don’t yet fully understand.  There are plenty of theories. Some say the roots are social, to communicate boredom or perhaps it is related to internal circadian rhythms, the body signalling us to rest.

BHF51MoCMAE8X8DYawning is still a subject of research among scientists.

And it’s not the simple action that you might imagine.  Your mouth opens, your jaw drops, your ears ‘pop’ and your lungs take in air to capacity elevating your heart rate.  It’s normally about a six second event.

And once you get past the age of five, yawning becomes contagious.

Enter Roman Atwood. Roman is a YouTube user known for his pranks. How did he do it this time? He just yawned. With the exception of the two fellas at the 1:15 mark, this prank is a rousing success.

When someone near you yawns, it is nearly impossible to prevent yourself from yawning, too. Watch the video, and don’t yawn, I dare you!
