The Ohio State University brings together music, choreography and iconic symbols from pop culture for a one-of-a-kind halftime performance. They’ve done a tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and the classic Disney films but this past Sunday, the OSU marching band set its sights on Hollywood, transforming blockbuster movies to the football field.

The featured video has been viewed over one million times on YouTube since being published on October 26.  The performers bring Superman to life, create the eye of Sauron, play quidditch with Harry Potter, take a T-Rex for a walk and engage in a pirate battle.

The discipline, timing and choreography of the OSU students are remarkable. Fans of their performances are treated to a new theme each week. Their secret? As reported on the Today Show it seems that their precision is thanks to an iPad app. Everything, from timing to their exact positions on the field, is helped by the devices.

“It’s been a really tremendous opportunity to use technology in what is really an old medium, and that’s the marching band,” band director Jonathan Waters told Today.
