Pub Review: Duffy’s Sports Grill in South Florida

MIAMI, FL — There certainly isn’t a shortage of sports bars across South Florida. You can’t go more than few blocks without seeing one either boldly free-standing right off the road or tucked into the corner of a shopping center. But, when I want to go somewhere to watch a game, I always find myself heading out to a Duffy’s Sports Grill. With 20+ locations all across the Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach county area, chances are that I’m close to one no matter where I am.

In every location you can’t take more than three steps without passing a HD flat screen showing every sport you can imagine. Whether you’re at the bar or in the corner of the restaurant, there’s probably a tv that’s as close as you’re used to in your own living room. The game you want isn’t on your tv? The wait staff is normally more than accommodating in putting on any game you ask for.

The walls in Duffy’s boast an impressive collection of jerseys and photos from every sport. One of these days, I’m going to ask them how much they’ll charge me for the giant photo of the Miracle On Ice signed by the team and Herb Brooks.

Do you like beer? They have quite an impressive selection both on tap and in bottles, including selections from local breweries. Duffy’s is never one to shy away from happy hour and game time specials on beer and liquor so, depending on what you’re headed there to watch, you’ll be able to have a couple of drinks without doing serious damage to your wallet. They also feature monthly spotlight specials where you can enjoy a particular beer or cocktail at an even better price.

Food wise, there is no ‘must-have’ or specialty item but their menu is pretty diverse and I’ve yet to order something that was less than delicious. They mostly serve traditional pub grub from wings prepared anyway you wish, to burgers, sandwiches and salads. If you’re in the mood for something more, you can dial up a steak, ribs, pasta dishes and remarkably authentic fish and chips.

If you have a large group that wants some privacy, every location has a private room that’s available. Also, make sure you pick up their MVP card if you plan on multiple visits because if you spend enough, they’ll start giving you cash back to use on future checks, among other perks.

For all of their locations, you can visit them on the web at www.duffyssportsgrill.com
