► All Star game

  • All Star weekend took place in Nashville this year. They took the ice for the skills competition as well as the new 3-on-3 tournament format.
  • Memorable moments of the skills competition were Shea Weber and his 108.1 mph shot, PK Jagr, Chewbacca Burns and Dylan Larkin breaking the fastest skater competition.
  • It all ended with the East getting by the West 29-12.
  • With the East getting the win they elected to play the first game. The result was a 4-3 victory for the Atlantic. Then the Pacific got the win in the second game edging the opposition 9-6 including two goals from captain John Scott. The Pacific would later win the tournament 1-0 with John Scott voted as the MVP.

► Leafs new logo

  • The Leaf unveiled their new logo that they would be using as of next season.

► Wideman suspension

  • The league has suspended Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman for 20 games. Wideman took a hard hit prior to knocking down a linesman. It was clear that he wasn’t himself when it happened.

► McDavid back

  • Oilers forward Connor McDavid is back in action showing no signs of rust as he scored a beauty in his first game back. Some say the he can still compete for the Calder but it is very unlikely.

► Habs struggles

  • The Habs continue their downward spiral post All Star break. They have dropped both of their games since then.
  • They look to turn it around on Super Bowl weekend but a chance at the post season is very unlikely.
  • After starting 9-0 they have yet to find their form from the beginning of the year.
