Video: A Eulogy for NFL Replacement Officials
Regular officials returned to the NFL on Thursday night for the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns. As the NFL season progressed, replacement officials came under increasing criticism (deservedly so) from media, fans and football personnel alike.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell apologized to fans after the deal was done saying, “Obviously when you go through something like this, it’s painful for everybody. Most importantly, it’s painful for fans. We’re sorry to have to put fans through that. Sometimes you have to go through something like that in the short term for the right agreement for the long term.”
