​​CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA CONTINUES ITS COVERAGE OF THE 2014 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS WITH THE CONFERENCE FINALS, BEGINNING SATURDAY

Coverage of the Conference Finals on CBC includes every game of the Eastern Conference Final and games 3, 5, 6 and 7 of the Western Conference Final

May 17, 2014 – The 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA with exclusive coverage of the Eastern Conference Final beginning Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET (9:30 a.m. PT). CBC will also have exclusive coverage of up to four games from the Western Conference Final, beginning with Game 3 scheduled for Saturday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. PT). Every game broadcast on CBC-TV is also available live online at CBCSports.ca and through the CBC Hockey app for iOS and Xbox.

CBC PlayoffsThe Eastern Conference Final features an Original Six match-up with Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens taking on Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers. Both teams battled through grueling seven-game series in the Second Round that eventually saw the Canadiens defeat the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Boston Bruins while the Rangers beat the Metropolitan Division Champion Pittsburgh Penguins. CBC’s Jim Hughson will handle play-by-play duties for this series alongside analyst Craig Simpson (@hnicsimmer). Glenn Healy will add further analysis from his position between the benches and Scott Oake (@ScottOake) will provide reports and interviews from rink level. In addition, Ron MacLean and Don Cherry (@CoachsCornerCBC) will travel to Montreal to broadcast live from the Bell Centre for the first two games of the series. This series will also be the featured match-up for CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada Punjabi presented by Chevrolet, available on select digital channels and online at CBCSports.ca/punjabi.

The defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, led by captain Jonathan Toews will take on Jonathan Quick and the Los Angeles Kings in a re-match of last season’s Western Conference Final. Chicago defeated the Minnesota Wild in six games to move on while Los Angeles took down the Western Conference’s top-seeded Anaheim Ducks in Game 7 of their Second Round series earlier tonight. CBC’s Bob Cole and Garry Galley will call the action and Cassie Campbell-Pascall (@CassieCampbell) will handle reporting duties for Game 3 of this series, as well as Games 5, 6 and 7, if necessary.

Host Ron MacLean will be joined for every game throughout the Conference Final Round by the Studio 42 Crew, P.J. Stock (@PJStockHNIC), Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) and Kelly Hrudey (@KellyHrudey) with Rob Pizzo (@RobPizzo) at the Chevrolet I-Desk. Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Adam Oates will also return as a guest analyst for select games throughout the Conference Final round. Don Cherry and Coach’s Corner brought to you by Budweiser will continue during each game of the Eastern Conference Final.

The top players from every game throughout the playoffs on CBC will be featured in the 3 Stars presented by Hotels.com following the conclusion of each game. Also following each game on CBC is the Chevrolet Post-Game Show hosted live online at CBCSports.ca by Rob Pizzo.
